INDECOM wants to investigates soldiers in video

The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) says it is aware of a video online purportedly showing a civilian and members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) involved in a physical altercation. However, the independent investigative body says it has yet to receive a formal complaint in the matter.

A video emerged online Thursday showing a soldier attempting to apprehend a man before a physical struggle ensues as the man appears to put up a resistance.

The tussle between the pair intensifies to the point where the soldier falls to the ground before another soldier intervenes and appears to kick the civilian who is later instructed to lay on the ground.

INDECOM, while noting that it has seen the video, said it has been unable to open an investigation into the matter as no one has come forward to make a formal complaint.

"We are aware of this video and similar recent altercations with members of the JDF, many of which we have not received formal complaints for, to begin the investigations into the allegationsof assault. We would urge these citizens to contact us via whatsapp at 876-553-5555 or call us 876-968-8875 to report the incidents," an INDECOM official told Loop News.

It is still unclear where and when the video was captured
